First Degree - Locations

"Standing out in the cold was not fun; but that's ok because it showed us what real actors and filmmakers have to go through. Now I realize that what we see on the screen is only a small part of a huge project." - Student Quote

It was quite difficult to keep the low flying airplanes from interfering with the scenes shot at Lohausen Park, which is in direct line of the Düsseldorf Airport. They zoomed right through the "Lock - Up"!

Once a scene was blocked out and ready for the lighting crew to take over, Rocky would bring the entire team together to discuss the shot. Students learned how and why each decision was made and alternative options were discussed. The Art department quickly stepped in to add cosmetic touches to the set with an assortment of props. Make-up and wardrobe prepared for "final touches". Charlene taught the student production team how to "lock - up" the set to control unwanted or extraneous noise and activity immediately before and during the filming of a shot. Charlene also made sure that each company move went as smoothly as possible.

"The experience would have been better if "First Degree" was filmed during a warmer time of year! The mornings were soo cold" - Student Quote

"Like Charlene said: you have to know how to be patient and know how to dress appropriately for the situation you are in. That's exactly what I learned." - Student Quote
